TEL AVIV, Israel – GreenSQL, a pioneer in the delivery of unified database security and provider of the world's most installed database security engine, responded today to the recent release of the personal details of hundreds of thousands of Israeli and Jewish individuals that were culled from Israeli and Jewish websites. The company stated that this information could easily be protected if website operators defended their databases with a database security layer.
Saudi Arabian hackers released critical private details of hundreds of thousands of individuals who had shared the information on tens of thousands of different Israeli and international websites. The hackers obtained the information from the vast majority of online merchants and personal website databases that were left completely unprotected.
"Less than 5% of databases operating MySQL and other leading database platforms employ any kind of security platform," said David Maman, CTO of GreenSQL. "As a public service, we offer a free, non-disruptive security solution that is designed specifically to prevent the numerous security breaches we have seen over the last few years. The fact that this attack targeted Israeli sites brings the issue a bit closer to home, but ultimately we are offering a solution that can help users worldwide, as this is truly a worldwide problem.
While much of the press coverage surrounding the release has focused on the exposed credit card numbers, the hackers also released vital personal information such as addresses, birthdays, and ID numbers that can help facilitate identity theft, an even greater danger to individuals.
